Use of the library

Here you can find information about the use of the libraries in Ballerup

Welcome to the library and the culture houses

We are pleased to welcome you to your local community meeting place. Here we offer experiences, learning, activities, calmness and immersion.

To be able to borrow our materials, you must be registered as a member.

Registration

Anyone over the age of 18 can register at the Ballerup Libraries with MitID. Once you are registered, you can log in to the website with your Danish CPR no. and the PIN code you have chosen.
Note, however, that citizens residing outside Ballerup Municipality do not have access to e-materials.
Click here to register as a user at the library. - In Danish it says "Opret dig som voksenbruger"

If you are over 18 years, you can either drop-by in the manned hours to get help - bring your yellow health card and picture-id or you can register online with MitID.
Your yellow health card (which also functions as your library card) is personal and you are liable for whatever is lent on the card. If you lose your card, please notify us at once, so that we can block the card for further loans.

If you change your e-mail address or phone number please notify us.

Children and young people below the age of 18 can also be registered as members. All that is needed is a parent or legal guardian to register the person under 18. The guardian is liable for possible fees obtained by the child.

Please note that you must approve having read and accepted the library's rules and tariffs. And please note that the registration form is in Danish as well as most of the website bib.ballerup.dk.

House Rules - April 2025

  1. Always follow the instructions of staff and security personnel – their judgment takes precedence.
  2. The library is a space for both activity and concentration.
You may move tables and chairs as needed, but please return them afterwards. Sleeping in the library is not allowed.
  3. Clean up after yourself and use the bins for your waste. Going through the bins is not permitted.
  4. You may eat in the library as long as you clean up thoroughly and take care of the library's furniture and equipment.
  5. Smoking, use of e-cigarettes, alcohol, or intoxicating substances is not allowed.
  6. Show consideration for others so everyone can feel comfortable. For example, use headphones for music and movies, and keep phone calls and online meetings quiet so as not to disturb others.
  7. Library materials, spaces, and furnishings must be treated with care. Staff may ask anyone who behaves inconsiderately to leave Ballerup Libraries.
  8. Please speak with us if you wish to display posters, leave flyers, or similar.
  9. We recommend staying at home if you or your child is ill and could infect others.
  10. Children are welcome in the library during staffed opening hours without an accompanying adult, provided they can take proper care of themselves and follow the library’s house rules.
Children who cannot meet these requirements must be accompanied by an adult.
If the staff determines that a child is unable to take care of themselves or shows concerning behavior, they will speak with the child’s guardian. If necessary, the concern will be passed on to Ballerup Municipality.

During self-service hours, the following also applies:

  1. Use the library responsibly when studying, immersing yourself, or borrowing materials.
  2. Children and young people under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible person over 18 to use the library.
  3. Adults must use their national health card to gain access. Do not let others in using your card.
All adults must be registered users of the library.
  4. Windows and fire doors must not be opened.
  5. Failure to follow the house rules may result in expulsion and possible suspension.
